WHY ARE WE HERE
Queensland Highways was set up to provide a 'local advice' channel
via Social Media for locals, travellers and professional drivers
who drive along the many Queensland highways.
Many of our highways span hundreds of kilometres without encountering
a settlement or town, and many of these highways are influenced
by environmental and man made factors, ie; Flooding, Landslides,
Accidents, Damage etc.
Some locations where a Highway may be closed could be over three
hours away from the nearest town. Notifying of road conditions to
the traditional Highway Management websites only allow information
from the local authourities to be passed on - local eyewitness reports
from long standing locals were not taken into account.
Please 'Follow' that respective highways' Twitter account (see
right margin) and report via Twitter if you encounter adverse conditions
on the highway you are travelling on. If you see a hazard or see
that a previous hazard has cleared, then please tweet the location
and the event as soon as it is safe to do so.
Do not use your phone or access the internet whilst driving. Take
a minute to stop and advise your fellow travellers of the problems
they may face ahead.
Anyone found using this service to try to market products or services
will not be tolerated and will be blocked.
